32 years

ago today husband and I were married.  Had to borrow 500 bucks to move to NC, but we had great prospects.  Inertia is a wonderful thing.

Remembering

I have lost contact with some folks over the years and the internet has allowed me to re-establish contact with them. So last night I looked up the veterinarian that I rode with 38 years ago and his wife.  They were born in 1920 and while it should come as no surprise to find out that they had died and that all I could find was record of their death- it has actually hit me rather hard. I have been in a funk all day.  The vet died in 2000 and his wife in 2009.  Surely I couldn't have expected them to be alive, but I guess I did.  I have that empty hollow feeling in my chest- not guilt that I hadn't kept up with them, but loss of some folks who were so kind to me and paved part of the way for me to become a veterinarian.  RIP Dr. Walker and Norella.

Anti-Obama Marine

I don't know how many of you are on AOL and have seen this story on the main page.  Let me see if I can post a link.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/25/gary-stein-marine-obama-facebook_n_1453031.html?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-main-bb%7Cdl1%7Csec1_lnk3%26pLid%3D155268

I am in full agreement with the Marine Corps in terminating this fellow's association with the Marines and being given a less than honorable discharge.  To me, this is insubordination of the highest degree.  You all know I am no fan of Obama's, but this goes beyond personal feelings about the president.  As I recall, the President is the Commander-in-Chief and as such obedience is required.  Good riddance- you do not deserve a severance package to include benefits that you might otherwise be entitled.  You let your emotions get ahead of your logical thinking brain.

In other news,, yes I rejoice at the extent to which we see that John Edwards is a sleaze, and yes, I said so way back when.

Ohio University- Sweet 16!!

The title says it all. Beating Michigan was enough for me- the Sweet 16 was just a pipe dream. Wish I was up on Court Street tonight. Bonfires on the green!
